The Department of Community Medicine at Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences is committed to imparting community‑oriented medical education and public health that nurtures competent, compassionate and socially responsible health‑care professionals. The department emphasises hands‑on learning through various outreach initiatives such as Family Adoption Programme, School health programmes, health‑screening camps in rural and urban slum areas and public‑health awareness campaigns on communicable and non‑communicable diseases.

Karnataka Association of Community Health (KACH) was established in 1984 to bring together community‑health professionals across Karnataka to foster education, health promotion and research. The association, with more than 860 life members, has enabled and nurtured public‑health specialists to actively contribute to building healthier communities.
About the Conference – KACHCON 2025
The 35th Annual State Conference of the Karnataka Association of Community Health (KACHCON 2025) is being organised with the thought‑provoking theme “Expanding Horizon in Community Medicine – Embracing the Future.” This theme reflects the evolving landscape of public health and the growing need to adapt, innovate and integrate new approaches to address the dynamic health challenges of present situations. As India progresses toward achieving Universal Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG‑3 ensuring healthy lives and promoting well‑being for all, there is a pressing need to reimagine community medicine in light of technological advancements, climate change, demographic transitions and emerging diseases.
KACHCON 2025 aims to bring together experts, practitioners, policymakers, academicians and researchers to discuss future‑ready strategies, research priorities, health innovations and collaborative models. The conference will serve as a platform to deliberate on expanding the scope of community medicine through digital health, health‑system resilience, interdisciplinary partnerships and enhanced community engagement to build a healthier and more equitable future.
